About

The New York Malayalee Sports Club is an organization devoted to bringing together the sports lovers of the tri-state area. Formed in the early 1980's as Malayalees, people speaking the language of Malayalam with roots in the state of Kerala in India, settled in large numbers in the Queens, NY area and were looking to pursue their love of sports. The organization currently has both youth and adult program in five different sports categories. The soccer wing of the New York Malayalee Sports Club is represented in tournaments by the NY Islanders. The Islanders first started playing in competitive soccer tournaments in the early 1980’s and the team has won numerous tournaments over the years in Florida, Texas, Toronto and local tournaments in Baltimore and Philadelphia.

The Islanders were the proud winners of the Inaugural NAMSL V. P. Sathyan Memorial tournament held in Philadelphia in 2022. The soccer wing practices are held on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. The youth soccer program starts in April and runs through the end of August. In addition, the club holds practices in badminton, basketball, cricket, and volleyball. NYMSC is a founding member of the North American Malayalee Soccer League.
